Why Airbnb Outpaces Traditional Hotels and Travel Agents

Short-term rentals are continuing to outperform traditional hotels as global conflicts disrupt travel itineraries. Travel flexibility is one of the reasons the Airbnb model continues to stand out. Airbnb reported second-quarter revenue of $3.61 billion, beating estimates of $3.57 billion, according to data compiled by LSEG.

Hotels are inherently location-bound: their inventory exists in the buildings they operate. Airbnb rentals, on the other hand, are distributed across neighborhoods, cities, and markets. When travelers change destinations, extend their stay, or look for a different type of accommodation, the STR model can move with them.

A Growing Portfolio, Built Across High-Demand Markets

At Lunabase, we see this same principle in the way we build and manage our portfolio. By expanding across different markets and property types, we create a more diverse portfolio.

We’re excited to recently welcome three new properties to the Lunabase portfolio, spanning Fort Lauderdale, Miami, and Cincinnati.

Las Olas Villa | Fort Lauderdale

Las Olas Villa bedroom

A beautifully renovated designer home in Victoria Park, one of Fort Lauderdale’s most desirable neighborhoods, Las Olas Villa is designed around the needs of families and groups looking for more than a traditional hotel stay.

The spacious tropical retreat features a private saltwater pool, outdoor games, and stylish indoor and outdoor living spaces, all just minutes from Fort Lauderdale Beach and Las Olas Boulevard.

Urban Oasis | Miami

Living Room 02

Our newest Miami addition brings a different opportunity to the portfolio. Urban Oasis is a 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom unit positioned as a mid-term rental (MTR). It’s a different rhythm than a nightly short-term rental, but the same core advantage applies: flexibility, comfort, and fully equipped, hotel-like living amenities. This is very attractive to relocating professionals, remote workers, or extended seasonal stay guests.

Terrace Haus | Cincinnati

living room 2

This historic 1850 townhome spans approximately 3,000 square feet across four stories, combining historic character with modern amenities.

Its standout feature is a private rooftop terrace with panoramic views of Washington Park, Music Hall, and the OTR skyline. Guests also have access to a chef’s kitchen, back patio with fire pit, and generous living spaces designed for families and groups.

The Opportunity Is Growing. So Is the Complexity.

property management guest management

Flexible stays may be winning with travelers, but that doesn’t mean they are easy to manage. Behind every successful short- or mid-term rental is a long list of moving parts:

  • keeping the property guest-ready,
  • responding to inquiries,
  • coordinating cleanings and maintenance,
  • managing check-ins and check-outs,
  • optimizing pricing,
  • handling guest issues,
  • maintaining strong reviews, and
  • making sure the property remains competitive in an increasingly crowded market.

Owning a great property is one thing. Operating it successfully is another.

This is where Lunabase property management can make the difference. We handle the day-to-day operational demands of managing a rental while keeping the bigger picture in focus: protecting your property, delivering a high-quality guest experience, and positioning your investment for long-term performance.

If you’ve been considering turning your home or investment property into a short- or mid-term rental but don’t want to take on the operational burden yourself, Lunabase can help.
